Airport Meteorological Systems

Vitrociset develops meteorological systems for airports, as well as regional and national weather forecasting centers. Its solutions include LLWAS, AWOS, SADIS, ATIS/D-ATIS, SICAM, IWS, and other integrated meteorological platforms.

These systems provide essential tools for real-time weather observation, data processing, and forecasting.

They also support safe aircraft operations by providing air traffic controllers and airport personnel with accurate and up-to-date weather information, helping reduce risks during takeoff, flight, and landing.

AWOS – Automated Weather Observing System

AWOS is Vitrociset’s integrated solution for managing airport meteorological information.

The system collects weather data from monitoring stations and sensors installed throughout the airport environment. It processes the data according to ICAO and WMO standards and delivers real-time information to meteorological personnel and airport stakeholders.

As a centralized weather information platform, AWOS interfaces with airport data networks and supports the automatic or semi-manual preparation and transmission of OPMET reports.

Main Features

Vitrociset AWOS Automated Weather Observing System

Comprehensive Sensor Integration
Supports a wide range of meteorological instruments and sensors with a modular architecture that allows new equipment to be added through plug-in interfaces.

Real-Time Weather Processing
Processes observations continuously, validates incoming data, generates weather averages, and issues automatic alerts when significant meteorological conditions occur.

Meteorological Report Generation
Automatically prepares and distributes METAR, SPECI, SYNOP, SYREP, QNH, TA, PRE, and other operational weather reports.

Flexible Operator Workstations
Provides customizable user interfaces for meteorological offices, air traffic control towers, and maintenance personnel.

Reliable Data Management
Stores weather observations, issued reports, and system events in a relational database while supporting interfaces to AFTN/AMHS, ATIS, and other external systems.

Flexible System Configurations
Available in both Advanced AWOS (A-AWOS) and Light AWOS (L-AWOS). The L-AWOS version is suitable for low- to medium-traffic airports or as an independent backup weather system.

High Reliability
Features a modular web-based architecture with redundant servers, centralized system monitoring, continuous event logging, and simplified installation and maintenance.

Standards Compliance
Fully compliant with current ICAO and WMO standards while providing a compact, modular platform that is easy to maintain and adaptable to future operational requirements.
